Community Life

From the Terry Fox run to Earth Day, PEAC students get involved, take initiative and have fun doing it! Being a part of one of North America’s largest urban national park lends students more opportunities to help ensure that the parks mandate is carried out; sustainability, recycle, take initiative. Our students are part of Downsview’s programs for tree planting, leadership classes for local school’s ecology program, Becel Ride for heart and more.

November 2008 Remembrance Day:
Our school volunteered in the Downsview Park Remembrance Day Event. Students from PEAC assisted with the days events and helped students from Sheppard Public School understand what Remembrance Day is all about. Here is what their teacher had to say:
Thank you to all who planned and participated in this morning’s program. It was very meaningful to our students. The Aerospace Museum has made a lot of progress during the past year. We appreciate the input from the military personnel and their families. It was heartwarming to see the older PEAC students teach our Sheppard students to use complicated origami techniques to make doves representing peace. Our community is stronger because of such effective inclusive programs.
In appreciation,
Nedda Lash.
