PEAC Soccer number 1 team in Toronto:
We played our third game last Wednesday against Monsignor Johnson, which PEAC won 2–1.
Match Report:
The players have started the season well and are trying to implement the playing style that we would like them to adopt; high tempo, passing, creativity and confidence. This has been evident in the first three games. The game against Monsignor Johnson was a very physical game and a good learning experience for all squad members. We battled well and moved the ball well in parts of the game; still, we know our players can deliver more as they show this at training day in day out. The work ethic shown from most of the players is fantastic as training is where our players are developing and learning the most. The games give me and Miles a chance to see the players that apply themselves in a positive way every day express themselves without fear of making mistakes.
Goals on the day came from Marc Leibl and Stephen Piliotis, Player of the match was Mik Zwane
Winning breads confidence amongst the group and keeps competition healthy to play, which is a key ingredient in a soccer player. However, the style of play is more important to the coaches and we would rather play well and lose than play poorly and win.
Overall a good start to the campaign by the squad who have won 3 of 3 and find themselves tied 1st place with 3 more games to go before the quarter finals. We still have to play Lawrence who are tied for 1st, so this should give us an idea of how far we have come and need to go also.
